Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH opens new production facility in India
Bock refrigerant compressors is expanding its involvement
on the subcontinent. A new production facility for compressors used in mobile
and stationary refrigerating/air conditioning applications has been erected on a
site covering more than 7000 m².
Bock India pvt. Ltd. opened its new
production facility on 16 January 2009 at Vadodara in the Indian state of
Gujarat. Bock India is a joint-venture company, with Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH
owning a majority stake. Bock India was specifically created to supply and
manage the Indian market.
The new production facility boasts a near 2000
m² production hall containing a logistics centre, a repair and service
department and production/office space.
The story of Bock India began as
long ago as 1997 with the manufacture of individual open compressor models from
the Bock F series. These days, Bock India produces all the models made by the
parent company, including the vehicle compressor from the FK series and
semi-hermetic compressors.
Other products currently manufactured by Bock
India for the Indian market specifically are air-cooled and water-cooled
condensation units with semi-hermetic compressors. These models have also become
significantly more important in India during recent years.
Bock India also makes client-specific products. An example
is the special duplex compressor made for process cooling in industrial
applications, the retail market or the food industry. "Having a local presence
in India is not just about selling compressors to our clients. We also offer
expert advice, a personal aftersales service through a service network, and
comprehensive training and service propositions", is how Günther Vollrath
describes the range of solutions offered by Bock in India.
With this new
building, Bock is paving the way for the company to enjoy further growth, whilst
responding to the increasing demands from the Indian market. Equipped with the
very latest assembly and testing facilities, Bock India has one of India's
best-performing plants for the manufacture of compressors in these performance
ranges.
"Our new plant in Vadodara is the company's way of making a
statement about the role the Indian market will play in the future", is how Bock
Managing Director Heinrich Reuß explains the future significance of the plant
for the company. It is clear that Bock sees substantial growth potential in
India over the coming years.
The guest of honour at the official opening of the new
factory on 16 January 2009 was Shri Naranbhai Rathwa, the Indian minister of
state for railways.
Many Bock compressors have been in use on
India's railways for a number of years. The Delhi Metro is just one example of
such applications. Today, however, Bock products can also be found in all the
other sectors where refrigeration and air conditioning technology is used in
India. This was borne out by the large number of sector representatives present
at the opening celebrations.
Bock India was delighted to welcome around
200 guests from India's engineering and air conditioning sector. Managing
Director Heinrich Reuß took part in the event as the representative of Bock
Deutschland. Günther Vollrath, who is responsible for coordinating and
developing the Indian plant, was also present.
